Rampage

Primatologist Davis Okoye works with animals rather than people, and his closest relationship is with George, a rare albino gorilla he has raised since birth. When an illegal genetic experiment goes wrong, George mutates into a vastly larger and more aggressive creature. He is not the only one: other animals have undergone the same change and are leaving destruction across North America. To stop the spread and recover the animal that was once his friend, Okoye joins forces with geneticist Dr. Kate Caldwell to develop a cure, while the ruthless government agent Harvey Russell and the people behind the experiment complicate a journey across a shifting battlefield.

Brad Peyton directed the film, his fifth feature after Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, San Andreas and Incarnate. The screenplay is by Adam Sztykiel, Carlton Cuse and Ryan J. Condal, with Beau Flynn, Peyton and John Rickard producing. Dwayne Johnson leads as Okoye, alongside Naomie Harris as Caldwell, Malin Åkerman as Claire Wyden, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Russell, Jake Lacy as Brett Wyden and Joe Manganiello as Burke. With 69 credited cast and 203 credited crew, it is a large-scale production.

Made for around 120 million USD, the film returned about 428 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.1/10 from 200,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5/10 from 7,733 votes, both moderate. Critics were less favourable, averaging 5.3/10 across 282 reviews, so the film found a warmer response among general viewers than with reviewers.
