Vox Lux

Vox Lux follows Celeste Montgomery, a pop star whose career begins after a shocking act of violence at her school in 1999. She and her sister Eleanor write and perform a song about what happened, which brings Celeste sudden fame. The story then moves to 2017, when Celeste, now 31 and the mother of a teenager, is dealing with a troubled career and a fresh act of violence that pulls her back into the public eye.

Brady Corbet directed and wrote the film, his first feature as director before The Brutalist. Natalie Portman plays the adult Celeste, with Raffey Cassidy as young Celeste, Jude Law as her manager, Stacy Martin as her sister and Jennifer Ehle and Christopher Abbott in supporting roles. The production had a budget of 7 million dollars and earned about 1 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 from 21,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.7 from 542 votes. A critics' rating of 6.5 from 254 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores, suggesting a mixed but somewhat more favourable critical response.
