Jupiter's Moon

Jupiter's Moon follows Aryan, a young refugee who is shot while crossing the Hungarian border illegally. While a doctor at a refugee camp treats his wound, it becomes clear that Aryan has acquired an unusual ability: he can levitate. The doctor, Gabor Stern, smuggles him out of the camp, intending to turn the young man's secret to his own advantage. Pursued by the camp director, the pair go on the run, and Stern's plans shift as he grows attached to the boy.

Kornél Mundruczó directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Kata Wéber. It is his third feature in the listed run of his work, arriving between White God and Pieces of a Woman. Zsombor Jéger plays Aryan, with Merab Ninidze as Stern and György Cserhalmi as László. The production was a German-Hungarian-French co-production, and the film runs 129 minutes.

Jupiter's Moon was released in 2017. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 from around 3,700 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.6 from roughly 124 votes. A critics' score of 5.5 from 41 reviews places it close to the audience ratings, neither strongly dividing reviewers and viewers nor winning either group over. The modest vote counts on both platforms point to a limited international audience for a film that played in competition at Cannes.
