Short description
Three lighthouse keepers, James, Thomas, and Donald, are stationed on a remote, uninhabited island off the coast of Scotland. Their routine is disrupted when they discover a chest of gold brought to the shore by a shipwrecked man. The discovery sparks intense conflict and paranoia among the men as greed replaces their loyalty. As they struggle to keep the treasure, the arrival of a boat searching for the gold escalates the tension, leading to a psychological struggle for survival. The story is based on the historical disappearance of three keepers from the Flannan Isles in 1900.
Directed by Kristoffer Nyholm, this mystery thriller was a joint production between the United Kingdom and the United States. The film stars Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan, and Connor Swindells in the lead roles, with additional performances by Søren Malling, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Gary Lewis. Butler also served as one of the producers.
The film received a moderate response from audiences, holding a 5.9 rating on IMDb from 23,000 votes and a 5.8 rating on TMDB from 803 votes. Film critics gave the movie a slightly higher score of 6.4 based on 38 reviews.

- The film is based on the real story of the unexplained disappearance of three lighthouse keepers on the Flannan Islands around December 15, 1900. The mystery of the disappearance of James Ducat, Thomas Marshall, and Donald MacArthur remains unsolved to this day.
- On the very first night, the characters eat crabs. At that time, crabs were considered the food of the poor. The fact that Donald doesn't know how to handle a crab says something about his character.
