American Satan

A young rock band made up of musicians from England and the United States leaves college behind and moves to the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. Money is short, and the group ends up living out of a van while trying to be noticed. A stranger who recognises their potential approaches them at a low point and pushes them toward an arrangement that gives their music an extraordinary power, raising the question of whether they can keep hold of their own lives.

American Satan is a drama with music and thriller elements, released in October 2017 and running 111 minutes. It was directed by Ash Avildsen, who wrote the screenplay with Matty Beckerman; Aimee Schoof, Isen Robbins and Jeff Rice produced. Andy Biersack plays the band's frontman, Johnny Faust, with Malcolm McDowell as the mysterious Mr. Capricorn, Denise Richards as Kat Faust, Bill Duke as Gabriel, Booboo Stewart as Vic Lakota and Jesse Sullivan as Lily Mayflower. The credited cast runs to 37 performers. The film is the first of the two features Avildsen has directed, ahead of Queen of the Ring in 2025.
