China Salesman

China Salesman is an action thriller about Yan Jian, a young Chinese IT engineer who travels to North Africa on behalf of his employer. His company is competing for a contract to build mobile communications infrastructure, a prize that would give the winner influence over communications across the region. A French spy named Michael is working to secure the same deal for Western interests, with an eye on the continent's mineral wealth. To get his way, Michael brings in Lauder, a mercenary, and Kabbah, a former general. When Yan uncovers the scheme, he becomes the one person positioned to stand against it.

The film is directed by Tan Bing, who wrote the screenplay with Sholom Gelt. Li Dongxue plays Yan Jian, with Mike Tyson as Kabbah, Steven Seagal as Lauder, Janicke Askevold as Susanna, Li Ai as Ruan Ling and Ériq Ebouaney as Sheik Asaid. It was produced through TIK Films, Wanda Media Co. and Cleopatra Entertainment.

Released in June 2017, China Salesman had a budget of 15 million USD and took in about 2 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 2.7/10 from 1,908 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.3/10 from 115 votes. A critics' rating of 2.2/10 from 16 reviews places it below even the modest audience scores.
