Trash Humpers

Trash Humpers follows a small group of elderly people who call themselves Peeping Toms as they drift through the margins of an unfamiliar America. Living among broken dreams and outside conventional morality, they record their own crude and deliberately shocking behaviour, blurring the line between documentation and performance. The film presents a version of the country far removed from glossy skylines and luxury cars, focusing instead on a rougher, frayed reality.

Harmony Korine directed and wrote the film, which sits between Gummo and Spring Breakers in his filmography. It was produced by Charles-Marie Anthonioz, Amina Dasmal and Robin C. Fox, and made by Warp Films, O' Salvation and Alcove Entertainment as a co-production between the United Kingdom, the United States and France. The cast includes Rachel Anna Simon, Brian Kotzur, Travis Nicholson, Korine himself, Charlie Ezell and Chris Crofton. Running just over an hour and a quarter, it mixes comedy and horror.

Reception was mixed. On IMDb it holds 4.9 out of 10 from around 6,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.1 out of 10 from a much smaller group of 143. A critics' rating of 5.4 out of 10 from 39 reviews places professional opinion slightly above the larger audience sample, though all three sit close together, suggesting broad agreement rather than a sharp divide.
