Hanna
Short description
Hanna is a sixteen-year-old girl who has spent her life in a remote part of northern Finland with her father, Erik, a former CIA operative. Trained from an early age in combat, survival skills and languages, she has been shaped for a single purpose: to become a perfect assassin. When Erik finally decides she is ready, he sends her out into the world. The mission draws the attention of intelligence agencies, and Hanna crosses Europe while agents pursue her, among them the ruthless CIA officer Marissa Wiegler, whose past is tied to Hanna and Erik. As she closes in on her objective, Hanna confronts questions about who she really is.
The film was directed by Joe Wright, its fifth feature, arriving between The Soloist and Anna Karenina. Saoirse Ronan plays Hanna, with Eric Bana as Erik, Cate Blanchett as Marissa, and Tom Hollander, Jessica Barden and Olivia Williams in supporting roles. David Farr and Seth Lochhead wrote the screenplay, and Leslie Holleran, Marty Adelstein and Scott Nemes produced.
Released in April 2011, the film had a budget of about 30 million dollars and took roughly 64 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 6.9 from 238 reviews, somewhat above the audience score of 6.6 on TMDB from around 3,775 votes. That gap suggests a film that reviewers received a little more warmly than the general viewing public did.
