Trigun: Badlands Rumble

Set on a desert planet settled by humans after they left Earth, Trigun: Badlands Rumble follows the gunman Vash the Stampede, a fugitive with a huge bounty on his head and a habit of leaving destruction behind him. Years after he intervened to save the outlaw Gasback from being killed by his own accomplices, Gasback returns to settle scores in the town of Makka, where he intends to rob it. The town's boss, Kepler, hires a crowd of bounty hunters to protect the place, among them the young gunslinger Amelia. Vash arrives as well, along with the insurance agents Meryl and Milly and the priest Nicholas D. Wolfwood, and their reunion is interrupted by Gasback's gang.

The film is a standalone story drawn from Yasuo Nightow's original manga rather than an adaptation of an existing arc. Satoshi Nishimura directed it, his second feature after Fighting Spirit: Champion Road in 2003, from a screenplay by Yasuko Kobayashi. Masaya Onosaka voices Vash, with Satsuki Yukino as Milly, Hiromi Tsuru as Meryl, Maaya Sakamoto as Amelia, Show Hayami as Wolfwood and Tsutomu Isobe as Gasback.

Released in April 2010 in Japan, it runs 91 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.4 from roughly 6,300 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 7.5 from about 204 votes, indicating a solid, widely agreed-upon reception among those who have seen it.
