Nothing to Declare is a French comedy set around the end of border controls between Belgium and France. Ruben Vandervoorde is a Belgian customs officer with a long-standing dislike of the French, and the arrival of open European borders threatens both his job and his sense of identity. On the other side stands Mathias Ducatel, a French customs officer who is in love with Ruben's sister and who volunteers to become his partner in a new joint mobile patrol, hoping to win the brother over. The two men, longtime adversaries, must work together, travelling the rural border roads in a battered Renault 4L, while a risky operation unfolds around them.
The film is directed by Dany Boon, who also stars as Mathias and co-wrote the screenplay with Yaël Boon. It followed Welcome to the Sticks (2008) in Boon's directing filmography. Benoît Poelvoorde plays Ruben, with Julie Bernard, Christel Pedrinelli, Joachim Ledeganck and Jean-Paul Dermont among the credited cast of 33. Produced in France with a budget of about 32 million USD, it took roughly 90 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.4/10 from around 16,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.9/10 from about 1,200 votes.
