Blood & Donuts

Set in Toronto in 1994, this comedy horror film follows a vampire named Boya who awakens from a long slumber after a golf ball hits his basement dwelling. After retrieving his possessions from a grave, he settles into a budget hotel near a 24-hour donut shop. Now sustaining himself on the blood of pigeons and rats rather than humans, Boya forms a bond with a taxi driver named Earl. He uses his abilities to protect Earl from two criminals and develops feelings for a waitress named Molly. Simultaneously, a woman named Rita, who was involved with Boya in 1969, searches for him.

Directed by Holly Dale, the movie features Gordon Currie in the lead role as Boya, alongside Louis Ferreira, Helene Clarkson, and Fiona Reid. The cast also includes David Cronenberg as a crime boss and Frank Moore. Produced by Téléfilm Canada, Feature Film Project, and the Ontario Film Development Corporation, the film has a runtime of 90 minutes. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 5.9/10 based on 1,500 votes on IMDb and a lower score of 5.4/10 from 42 votes on TMDB.
