Elephant White

Elephant White is an action crime film set in Bangkok, where a professional hitman, Curtie Church, takes on work from a wealthy businessman. The man wants revenge on the human traffickers who took his daughter and forced her into prostitution. Church carries out the killings he is paid for, then takes on a larger job: targeting the head of the trafficking network behind it all. He turns to an old acquaintance, an arms dealer called Jimmy the Brit, for weapons and support, and tries to set the rival gangs against each other to reach his target. Along the way he keeps encountering a young girl, Mae, whose presence begins to change how he sees his own life. The film mixes its crime story with fantasy elements.

Prachya Pinkaew directed, working from a screenplay by Kevin Bernhardt. It followed Ong-Bak, The Protector and Chocolate in Pinkaew's filmography, and arrived between Chocolate and The Protector 2. Djimon Hounsou plays Church and also produced, alongside Daniel Bernhardt and Peter Safran. Kevin Bacon appears as Jimmy the Brit, with Thantida Sasoontorn, Weeraprawat Wongpuapan, Suteerush Channukool and Sahajak Boonthanakit in supporting roles.

Made for about 10 million dollars, the film received weak ratings: on IMDb it sits at 5 out of 10 from roughly 11,000 votes, and on TMDB at 5 out of 10 from around 214 votes. A critics' score of 3.1 out of 10 from 148 reviews is lower than both audience ratings, suggesting professional reviewers were harsher on it than viewers were.
