Short description
Two close friends travel toward New York City in this hidden-camera comedy. Along the way, they involve unsuspecting strangers in a series of raucous and obscene pranks.
Directed and written by Kitao Sakurai, this was the first of two films he directed before Street Fighter. The production was a joint effort between Canada and the United States, involving companies such as Bron Studios and Orion Pictures. The cast is led by Eric André as Chris Carey and Lil Rel Howery as Bud Malone, with Tiffany Haddish appearing as Trina Malone. A total of 24 actors were credited in the 87-minute film.
Audience reception was moderately positive, with a rating of 6.5/10 from 29,000 votes on IMDb and 6.1/10 from 612 votes on TMDB.
What's left behind the scenes
- Lil Rel Howery almost left the project at one point. This happened when they were mistakenly taken to the wrong barbershop for the filming of one of the scenes. The owner of the establishment was not pleased at all and attacked the actors with a knife. No one could help them, as security was at the barbershop where the filming was supposed to take place. When Howery later told Tiffany Haddish, with whom he had a friendly relationship, about what had happened, she convinced him not to leave the project, and soon producers decided to find a new actress for the role of Trina, which then went to Haddish.
- Sacha Baron Cohen appeared on screen in one of the early versions of the film, and subsequently repeatedly assisted the filmmakers with advice and ideas.
