Set during the gold rush of the late nineteenth century in the snowy wilderness of the North, the story follows a wolf-dog named White Fang. The animal forms a strong bond with a young boy and his father, though it must learn to distinguish between true friends and those who wish to exploit it. In a mining town corrupted by greed, the dog becomes a loyal ally to a group including a reporter, a fur trapper, and a nun. Together, they work to liberate the animal and rid the settlement of a dishonest crime lord.
