Along Came Polly

Reuben Feffer works as a risk analyst, a man who calculates danger for a living and applies the same caution to his own life. His careful plans collapse when he discovers his new wife with another man during their honeymoon. Soon afterward he runs into Polly Prince, a former classmate whose spontaneous, adventurous approach to life is the opposite of his own. As the two spend time together, Reuben is pushed out of his routines and forced to weigh comfort against uncertainty.

John Hamburg wrote and directed the film, his second feature after Safe Men and the first of several comedies he would go on to make. Ben Stiller plays Reuben and Jennifer Aniston plays Polly, with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Debra Messing, Alec Baldwin and Hank Azaria in supporting roles. Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher produced it for Jersey Films, and it runs ninety minutes.

Released in January 2004, the film grossed about 171 million dollars worldwide against a budget of roughly 42 million, a strong return for a romantic comedy. On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 151,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6 out of 10, from a much smaller pool of about 3,100 votes. A critics' rating of 5.1 out of 10 from 161 reviews places it below both audience scores.
