Short description
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D follows Heather Mason, a young woman who has spent years moving from place to place with her father, staying ahead of forces she does not understand and that he refuses to explain. On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, after recurring nightmares, she finds her father gone and a strange occult symbol left behind, pointing her toward the town of Silent Hill. Her search draws her into a demonic world tied to a past she never knew, and to the question of who she really is.
The film is a sequel to Silent Hill and draws on the video game series of the same name. M.J. Bassett directed and wrote the screenplay, placing it between Solomon Kane and Inside Man: Most Wanted in her filmography. Adelaide Clemens plays Heather, with Sean Bean as her father, Radha Mitchell as Rose Da Silva, Carrie-Anne Moss as Claudia Wolf, Malcolm McDowell as Leonard Wolf and Kit Harington as Vincent Carter. It was produced by Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody, with a budget of 20 million dollars and a worldwide gross of 56 million.
Audience response was modest: 4.9 out of 10 on IMDb from around 71,000 votes, and 5.6 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 1,900 votes. A critics' rating of 3.2 out of 10 from 61 reviews places it below the audience scores.

- The building map Heather looks at in the psychiatric hospital is stylized after location maps in the video game series.
- When Heather talks about fictional names, she mentions Harry's father. This is a reference to Harry Mason from the game Silent Hill.
- On the lid of the box where Harry keeps mementos of Silent Hill is depicted the Sun's Halo – a symbol of a religious cult from the foggy town, used in the third game as a save point.
- The psychiatric hospital where Heather finds Leonard is called Brookhaven Asylum in the film. However, this name does not appear in any of the games; the building is called Brookhaven Hospital.
- The film is based on the video game "Silent Hill 3" (2003).
- During the bus scene, Vincent, referring to his grandfather's words, says: "Some see monsters, others see people." This is a reference to his own words in the game, allowing a different perspective on what is happening: the followers of the Cult, to which he also belongs, are people, but appear as monsters to Heather.
- Room 106 of the 'At Jack's' hotel, where Heather and Vincent stayed, appears in the game: Heather stays there with Detective Douglas, and later meets Vincent.
- The truck driver who picks up the film's protagonists, Travis Grady, is the main character of the game 'Silent Hill: Origins,' released on PS2 and PSP. And the police convoy with the bus transporting prisoners is a reference to the beginning of 'Silent Hill: Downpour' (PS3, Xbox 360), which starts with the main character, Murphy Pendleton, escaping from a similar bus.
- Christopher, Heather's father, remained in Silent Hill to search for Rose. This is a direct reference to the game 'Silent Hill 2' (PC, PS2), whose protagonist, James Sunderland, also went in search of his wife in the foggy town of Silent Hill.
- At the 58th minute of the film, when Sharon kills the attacking monster with a headshot, it continues to breathe after falling.
