Gagarine

Yuri, sixteen, has spent his whole life in a sprawling red-brick housing estate on the outskirts of Paris, a place named after the first man in space. He dreams of becoming a cosmonaut himself. When word gets out that the towers are to be demolished, he refuses to accept it, and together with his friends Diana and Houssam he joins the residents trying to save the place they call home. To Yuri, the estate is not just a building but his own spacecraft, and he sets about defending it in his own way. The film blends drama with fantasy as his imagination and the reality of the planned demolition meet.

Gagarine is a French production directed by Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh, who also wrote the screenplay with Benjamin Charbit. It followed their 2016 debut, The Republic of Enchanters, and preceded The Green Eyes, released in 2026. Alséni Bathily plays Yuri, with Lyna Khoudri as Diana, Jamil McCraven as Houssam, and supporting turns from Finnegan Oldfield, Farida Rahouadj and Denis Lavant. The film runs 95 minutes.

Audience scores are moderate on both platforms, 6.7 out of 10 on IMDb across roughly 3,000 votes and 6.6 out of 10 on TMDB from a smaller base. The two ratings are close, suggesting a fairly consistent response from viewers rather than a sharply divided one.
