Carjacked

Carjacked follows Lorraine Burton, a single mother trying to rebuild her life with her young son, Chad. During a stop at a gas station, she returns to her car to find Roy, an armed bank robber who has just pulled off a heist and is evading a police manhunt. He forces Lorraine to drive him toward a meeting point with his accomplice and the stolen money, using her and her son as cover to slip past roadblocks. What begins as a hostage ordeal turns into a struggle for survival as Lorraine fights to protect her child and regain control from a man who has no plans to let them go free.

The film is the second feature directed by John Bonito, arriving five years after The Marine. Sherry and Michael Compton wrote the screenplay, with Daniel Grodnik and Eric Gozlan producing. Maria Bello leads as Lorraine, opposite Stephen Dorff as Roy, with supporting turns from Joanna Cassidy, Catherine Dent, Kristen Kerr and Gary Grubbs in a Canada-United States co-production.

Released in 2011 as a television movie, Carjacked carries a modest budget of six million dollars. Reception among viewers has been mixed: on IMDb it holds a rating of 5 out of 10 from roughly 4,600 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.1 out of 10 from around 109 votes. Those figures point to a small but consistent audience response rather than broad acclaim.
