Matty Demaret is the son of a New York mob boss, but he has spent years trying to build a life outside the family business. When legitimate work fails to pan out, he turns to his father for a chance to prove himself. That chance comes in the form of a simple errand: collecting a bag of cash. The plan goes wrong when the money disappears in a small Montana town, and Matty's friend Johnny Marbles, who was flying the delivery, loses track of it.
Matty travels west with two lifelong friends, Taylor Reese and Chris Scarpa, to track down the missing money. What they find is a town run by a corrupt sheriff and his deputy, and the locals who ended up with the cash have no intention of giving it back. Teddy Deserve, a senior figure in the organization, arrives to sort out the situation and to make clear to Matty what belonging to the family actually requires.
Brian Koppelman and David Levien directed and wrote the film, their first feature behind the camera, with Lawrence Bender producing. Barry Pepper leads a cast that includes Dennis Hopper, John Malkovich, Seth Green, Vin Diesel and Andy Davoli. Made for about 15 million dollars, it earned roughly 14 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.1 from around 26,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 from over 400, while the critics' rating stands at 4.5 from 98 reviews.
