Paul, a screenwriter whose career has stalled, lives alone in a remote mountain house with no neighbours for miles. During a rare trip into town he is rescued from a threatening encounter by Jack, a young drifter, and offers the stranger a place to stay. Jack soon takes control of the house and forces Paul to write, and the arrangement draws out secrets Paul had long kept buried.
Brian Goodman directed the film, his second feature after What Doesn't Kill You (2008) and before Last Seen Alive (2022), from a screenplay by Justin Stanley and Marc Frydman. Antonio Banderas plays Paul and Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays Jack, with Piper Perabo as Laura and Abel Ferrara as Pat. The production was a Spanish, Italian and American co-production, and it runs 93 minutes.
On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 4.9/10 from 20 reviews, while audiences on TMDB give it 6.2/10 from 583 votes, a wider and more favourable response than that of reviewers.
