Nobody Has to Know

Phil, a Belgian man in his fifties, has settled on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, where he works for a farming family and lives among a small Presbyterian community. After suffering a stroke, he loses his memory. Millie, the daughter of his employer, takes care of him as he recovers, and she tells him that the two of them were secretly in love before his illness. Phil has no way to verify this claim, and the relationship that develops between them rests on what she has told him.

Bouli Lanners directed and wrote the film, his fourth as director, and plays Phil opposite Michelle Fairley as Millie. The supporting cast includes Cal MacAninch, Clovis Cornillac, Julian Glover and Andrew Still. It is a co-production between Belgium, the United Kingdom and France.

Released in March 2022, the film runs 99 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from around 1,200 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.7 from a much smaller number of votes, suggesting a modest but settled response from viewers rather than a broad one.
