This drama follows the legal and moral clash between Brian Wood, a British soldier, and Phil Shiner, a lawyer specializing in human rights. After being decorated for bravery during the Iraq conflict, Wood is accused of war crimes, including the torture and killing of prisoners following the battle at Checkpoint Danny Boy in 2004. The conflict moves from the battlefield to the courtroom during the Al-Sweady Inquiry, one of the largest public investigations in British history. As the case progresses, Wood is forced to examine his own memories to determine if his actions during the war crossed the line into murder.
The film was directed by Sam Miller, marking his third feature project following Elephant Juice and No Good Deed. The screenplay was written by Robert Jones and produced by Simon Lewis. The movie stars Anthony Boyle as Brian Wood and Toby Jones as Phil Shiner, with supporting roles played by Leah McNamara, Alex Ferns, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Sarah Niles. It was produced in the United Kingdom by Red Dragon Productions and Expectation Entertainment. Audience reception was generally positive, with a rating of 6/10 on IMDb based on 512 votes and a higher score of 6.8/10 on TMDB from 129 votes.
