JUNG_E

JUNG_E is set on a twenty-second-century Earth that climate change has rendered uninhabitable. Humanity survives in vast orbital shelters, where a civil war has dragged on for decades. A researcher at an artificial intelligence laboratory leads an effort to end the fighting by cloning the brain of a heroic soldier: her own mother. The project, which carries the soldier's name, depends on the work of laboratory head Seo-hyun and director Sang-hoon, among others.

The film is a Korean science fiction action drama directed and written by Yeon Sang-ho. It was released in January 2023 and runs 98 minutes. Kang Soo-youn plays Seo-hyun, with Kim Hyun-joo as Jung-yi, Ryu Kyung-soo as Sang-hoon, Uhm Ji-won as Se-yeon, Lee Dong-hee as Chairman and Han Woo-yeol as Jae-kyung. Kim Yeon-ho produced for Climax Studios on a budget of about 16 million US dollars.

JUNG_E arrived between Peninsula and The Ugly in Yeon's filmography. It drew modest audience scores, landing at 5.5 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 12,000 votes and 6.1 out of 10 on TMDB from around 701 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 33 reviews places it slightly below the TMDB audience figure and somewhat above the IMDb one, indicating a broadly mixed response across all three groups.
