A.C.A.B. - All Cops Are Bastards

A.C.A.B. – All Cops Are Bastards centres on a unit of Italian riot police, the officers deployed at demonstrations and football matches. Three veterans known as Cobra, Negro and Mazinga have spent years on the street as targets of urban violence, and their methods have grown rough enough to draw the suspicion of colleagues and to damage their private lives. When a young recruit, Adriano, joins the section, he is taught its rules by the three men and begins to question what he is being trained to accept. The film takes its title from the slogan "All Cops Are Bastards," which began in Britain and spread through stadiums and streets.

Stefano Sollima directed this 2012 Italian-French production, his first feature, from a screenplay by Daniele Cesarano, Barbara Petronio and Leonardo Valenti. It precedes his later films Suburra, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Tom Clancy's Without Remorse and Adagio. Pierfrancesco Favino plays Cobra, with Filippo Nigro as Negro, Marco Giallini as Mazinga and Domenico Diele as Adriano; Roberta Spagnuolo appears as Maria. Thirty-six cast members and forty-five crew members are credited.
