The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas

The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas is a prehistoric comedy that serves as a prequel to the 1994 film, showing how Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble first met Wilma Slaghoople and Betty O'Shale. Fred, a crane operator in Bedrock, falls for Wilma, whose wealthy mother wants her to marry the affluent casino owner Chip Rockefeller. Hoping to win Wilma's heart, Fred takes her and the others to the resort town of Rock Vegas, where Chip schemes to come between them and get at Wilma's family fortune.

Brian Levant directed, returning to the franchise after helming The Flintstones six years earlier; it was his fifth feature, following Problem Child 2, Beethoven, The Flintstones and Jingle All the Way. Mark Addy and Stephen Baldwin play Fred and Barney, with Kristen Johnston and Jane Krakowski as Wilma and Betty, Joan Collins as Wilma's mother Pearl, and Thomas Gibson as Chip. Jim Cash, Jack Epps Jr. and Joseph Barbera wrote the screenplay for the Universal, Amblin and Hanna-Barbera production.

Released in April 2000, the film runs 91 minutes. Made for a budget of 83 million dollars, it took in about 59 million worldwide.
