Kao is a world champion at sport stacking, a pursuit in which competitors race to arrange cups into set patterns faster than anyone else. A Thai production directed and written by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, the film follows Kao as his long-term relationship with his girlfriend Jay comes apart and he is left to manage everyday life on his own for the first time. Tasks that most adults handle without thinking become obstacles for him, even as younger rivals around the world chase his record. Much of the story turns on his attempt to prove he can grow up and win Jay back.
Nat Kitcharit plays Kao and Urassaya Sperbund plays Jay, with Anusara Korsamphan, Kanokwan Butrachart, Wipawee Patnasiri and Keetapat Pongruea among the supporting cast. The film runs 132 minutes and mixes comedy and romance with drama and action. Made by GDH 559, Very Sad Pictures and Happy Ending Film, it was released in April 2022 and was Nawapol's second feature as director, following his 2018 film Friendshit. He has since directed Human Resource and God's Favorite Camera.
Audience response has been modest but positive, with a 6.8 rating on IMDb from around 1,600 votes and the same score on TMDB from a much smaller base of 36 votes. The larger IMDb sample suggests a steady, if not enthusiastic, reception for a film that blends an unusual sporting subculture with a relationship story.
