You Hurt My Feelings

Beth is a novelist living in New York City with her husband Don, whose support for her writing has been a constant through their long marriage. When she overhears him speaking honestly about her latest book, his real opinion unsettles the trust she thought they shared, and the couple is left to reckon with the small deceptions that have accumulated between them.

The film is written and directed by Nicole Holofcener, her seventh feature and her second after The Land of Steady Habits. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who also produced, plays Beth, and Tobias Menzies plays Don, with Michaela Watkins, Arian Moayed, Owen Teague and Amber Tamblyn among the supporting cast. The production involved roughly three dozen credited cast members and fifty credited crew, under the banners of FilmNation Entertainment and Likely Story.

Released in May 2023, the film runs 93 minutes and earned about 5 million dollars worldwide, a modest return against its profile. On IMDb it holds 6.5/10 from around 17,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.3/10 from a much smaller sample of 196. A critics' rating of 7.7/10 from 218 reviews places it noticeably above the audience scores.
