Sometimes I Think About Dying

Fran is an office worker in a small port town in Oregon who leads a quiet, solitary routine and often imagines her own death in vivid daydreams. When Robert, a new colleague, joins the company, a shared moment of laughter opens the door to an email exchange, a trip to the cinema with coworkers and a slice of pie split between them. A tentative romance begins to take shape, though Fran's own shyness and self-doubt are the main obstacle in its path.

Daisy Ridley plays Fran, with Dave Merheje as Robert, and Parvesh Cheena, Marcia DeBonis, Megan Stalter and Brittany O'Grady in supporting roles. The film was directed by Rachel Lambert, the first of her features in chronological order, from a screenplay by Katy Wright-Mead, Stefanie Abel Horowitz and Kevin Armento. Ridley also produced, alongside Dori A. Rath and Brittany O'Grady.

Released in January 2024, the film runs 94 minutes. On IMDb it holds a 6.6 rating from around 7,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.8 from a much smaller sample of 171 votes. A critics' rating of 6.9 from 132 reviews places it slightly above the audience score on IMDb, suggesting a modestly favorable reception overall.
