Short description
Beautiful Mandy Lane isn't a party girl but, when classmate Chloe invites the Texas high school student to a bash in the countryside, she reluctantly accepts. After hitching a ride with a vaguely scary older man, the teens arrive at their destination. Partying ensues, and Mandy's close pal, Emmet, keeps a watchful eye on the young males making a play for Mandy. Then two of the students are murdered.

- In Emmett's diary, the word "Goodbye" is written in letters larger than all the other entries. On the same page is the text of the song "Interstate Love Song" (1994) by the American hard rock band Stone Temple Pilots. The next page features the lyrics to "Hyperballad" (1996) by the Icelandic performer Björk. Opposite the picture of Mandy Lane is the text of "Fake Plastic Trees" (1995) from the second studio album by the British rock band Radiohead.
- Emmett, as played by Michael Welch, wears a t-shirt with the inscription "natural selection." This is a reference to Eric Harris (1981-1999) – one of the two high school students who carried out the massacre at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999, and then committed suicide.
