Fair Play

Emily and Luke are a young New York couple, newly engaged and seemingly happy, who both work at a hedge fund where competition is ruthless. When an unexpected promotion goes to one of them instead of the other, the balance of power between them shifts, and the supportive partnership they had begins to sour. What starts as tension over careers and money grows into something more sinister, putting not only their engagement but their lives at risk.

Fair Play is a 2023 drama and thriller directed by Chloe Domont, who also wrote the screenplay. It was her first feature, arriving ahead of her second film, A Place in Hell, and it was produced by Tim White, Ben LeClair and Allan Mandelbaum for MRC, T-Street Productions and Star Thrower Entertainment. Phoebe Dynevor plays Emily and Alden Ehrenreich plays Luke, with Eddie Marsan, Rich Sommer, Sebastian de Souza and Sia Alipour among the supporting cast. The production credited 36 cast members and 93 crew.

The film runs 113 minutes. It drew solid praise from critics, whose rating stands at 7.5/10 across 234 reviews, while audiences have been more measured: 6.4/10 on IMDb from 46,000 votes and the same 6.4/10 on TMDB from 663 votes, a gap that suggests reviewers responded more warmly than general viewers did.
