The Beast

Set in a future where human emotions are viewed as a threat, the story follows Gabrielle, who undergoes a DNA purification process to remove her feelings. This procedure sends her on a journey through her previous incarnations across different eras. In each of these past lives, she encounters Louis, and the two share a profound connection that persists through time, though Gabrielle is haunted by a sense of impending disaster.

The film was directed by Bertrand Bonello and is the seventh feature in his career, following Coma. The screenplay was written by Bonello alongside Guillaume Bréaud and Benjamin Charbit, and it was produced by Bonello, Xavier Dolan, and Justin Taurand. The cast is led by Léa Seydoux and George MacKay, supported by Guslagie Malanda, Dasha Nekrasova, Martin Scali, and Elina Löwensohn.
