Falcon Lake follows Bastien, a thirteen-year-old Parisian who travels with his family to a lakeside chalet in Quebec, where his mother grew up, to spend the summer at the home of her longtime friend Louise. There he meets Louise's sixteen-year-old daughter Chloé. Despite the age gap between them, the two form an unusual and charged connection, and Bastien pushes past his own fears as he tries to find a place in her life. The stay becomes a troubling turning point in his passage toward adulthood, set against a remote landscape weighted with local legend.
The film is the first feature directed by Charlotte Le Bon, who wrote the screenplay with François Choquet; it was produced by Sylvain Corbeil, Nancy Grant and David Gauquié. Joseph Engel plays Bastien and Sara Montpetit plays Chloé, with Monia Chokri, Arthur Igual, Karine Gonthier-Hyndman and Anthony Therrien in supporting roles. It is a Canadian and French co-production and runs 100 minutes.
On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from roughly 3,900 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 7 out of 10 from about 140 votes. A critics' rating of 7.5 out of 10 from 48 reviews places it slightly above those audience scores.
