Ants in the Pants

The film centres on Florian, a fifteen-year-old who is far less worldly than his friends and can barely bring himself to say the word sex. Then one morning he wakes to a voice coming from his own body: his penis has started talking, and it has plenty to say, mostly complaints about fifteen years of neglect. From there the ordinary routines of family breakfasts and school days turn awkward, as the voice offers a running commentary on everything and everyone around him.

Florian's friends Schumi, Dirk and especially Red Bull try to steer him through the situation, while his parents' attempts at explanation get him nowhere. He falls for Leonie, the school beauty, who is attached to the notorious Kai, and Red Bull's advice leads the pair into a series of escapades. Along the way Florian loses sight of his close friend Lisa.

Marc Rothemund directed, following his 1998 debut Love Scenes from Planet Earth and several features before Sophie Scholl: The Final Days. Tobias Schenke plays Florian, with Axel Stein, Luise Helm, Mina Tander, Sissi Perlinger and Andrea Sawatzki among a credited cast of 37. Produced by Martin Moszkowicz for Constantin Film with ARD, the German comedy took about 8 million USD worldwide. Audiences rate it modestly: on IMDb it holds 5.1 from roughly 4,800 votes, and on TMDB 4.9 from 143.
