My Sole Desire centres on a young woman who drifts into a job at a Paris strip club called À mon seul désir, a venue that stages elaborate, concept-driven performances. There she quickly forms ties with the other dancers, above all Mia, an aspiring actress who has a boyfriend and a child. As she settles into the work, she comes to see it as fast money rather than easy money, and her growing attraction to Mia pushes her to reconsider what she wants from her life and her newly discovered erotic freedom.
The film is directed by Lucie Borleteau, who wrote the screenplay with Clara Bourreau and Laure Giappiconi, and it followed her 2019 feature Perfect Nanny. Louise Chevillotte plays the newcomer, credited as Aurore and Manon, with Zita Hanrot as Mia, Laure Giappiconi as Elody, Pedro Casablanc as Pablo, Sième Miladi as Savannah and Yuliya Abiss as Sati. It is a French production from Apsara Films, running 119 minutes.
Released in April 2023, the drama has drawn modest attention: on IMDb it holds 6.1 out of 10 from around 1,300 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.6 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of 116 ratings. The two scores are close, suggesting a similar, mildly favourable response from those who have seen it.
