Metronom

Set in Bucharest in 1972, this drama follows Ana, a seventeen-year-old who desires freedom and love. While spending time with friends, the group decides to send a letter to Metronom, a music program broadcast clandestinely in Romania by Radio Free Europe. This act of defiance leads to an encounter with the Securitate, the secret police of the Ceausescu regime. Amidst this political repression, Ana also faces the emotional struggle of a relationship with Sorin, who is preparing to leave the country permanently.

The film was written and directed by Alexandru Belc. It features a cast including Mara Bugarin in the role of Ana and Serban Lazarovici as Sorin, with supporting performances by Vlad Ivanov, Mara Vicol, Mihai Călin, and Alina Brezunteanu. A joint production between Romania and France, the movie was produced by Midralgar, Chainsaw Europe, and Strada Film.
