Maybe I Do

Michelle and Allen are at the stage of their relationship where they are weighing whether to marry. To help them decide, they arrange a dinner so that their parents can meet and share what they have learned about making a marriage work. The evening takes a turn once it becomes clear that the two sets of parents are already well acquainted, and that they hold sharply differing views on whether marriage is worth pursuing at all. What begins as a meeting between strangers turns into an awkward reckoning with the older generation's own choices.

The film is a comedy-drama with romantic elements, written and directed by Michael Jacobs, and produced by Vincent Newman, Scott Mednick and Jacobs. It was released in January 2023 and runs 95 minutes. Diane Keaton, Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and William H. Macy play the parents, while Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey play the younger couple at the centre of the story.

Made for a budget of 8 million dollars, the film took in about 4 million dollars worldwide, so it did not recover its costs at the box office. Audience response has been lukewarm: on IMDb it holds 5 out of 10 from roughly 12,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.5 out of 10 from around 290 votes. A critics' rating of 4.7 out of 10 from 47 reviews places it below even those modest audience scores.
