Gambit

Harry Deane is an art curator in London who works for Lionel Shahbandar, a wealthy collector and his overbearing boss. Tired of being mistreated and humiliated, Harry devises a scheme to get even: he will trick Lionel into buying a forged Monet. To pull it off, Harry needs help from a master forger and from PJ Puznowski, a rodeo queen from Texas with no background in art. She is to pose as the owner of the painting, claiming her grandfather came by it at the end of the Second World War. The con grows complicated as Lionel, one of England's richest men, takes an interest in the Texan that Harry did not count on.

Michael Hoffman directed the film from a screenplay by Joel and Ethan Coen. It is his eighth feature, arriving between The Last Station and The Best of Me. Colin Firth plays Harry, Cameron Diaz plays PJ, and Alan Rickman plays Lionel. Tom Courtenay, Stanley Tucci and Cloris Leachman round out the cast.

Released in April 2012, the film runs 89 minutes. It earned about 1 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7/10 from roughly 27,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.5/10 from 741 votes. A critics' rating of 4.2/10 from 45 reviews sits below the audience scores on both platforms.
