In 1995, a black-and-white film supposedly showing an autopsy on an alien body surfaces and is presented to the world as footage recovered from the Roswell incident of 1947. Two British friends, Ray Santilli and Gary Shoefield, are behind the discovery, and the attention it draws turns them into media figures. The trouble is that they are guarding a secret larger than the film itself, one that would change everything if it came out.
Alien Autopsy is a British-German comedy directed by Jonny Campbell from a screenplay by William Davies. It was Campbell's first feature film, followed two decades later by Cold Storage, and it stars Declan Donnelly as Ray and Anthony McPartlin as Gary, with Bill Pullman, Götz Otto, Morwenna Banks and Omid Djalili among the supporting cast of fifty-one credited performers. The premise, derived from real events, mixes science fiction with humour.
Released in April 2006, the film runs 95 minutes. On IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 from roughly 7,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.7 from 142 votes, suggesting a modest but not dismissive audience response. A critics' rating of 5.7 from nine reviews places it in similar territory to the viewer scores, with neither group regarding it as a major success.
