Premonition

Linda Hanson's life appears settled: a husband, two young daughters, a comfortable home. Then a police officer arrives with news that her husband Jim has died in a car accident. The next morning she wakes to find him alive beside her, and over the days that follow her mornings keep alternating between a world where Jim is gone and one where he is still there. The days no longer arrive in order, and Linda cannot tell whether she is seeing events that have happened or events still to come. Convinced the tragedy can be prevented, she tries to hold on to her family while her sense of what is real keeps shifting.

Mennan Yapo directed the film, his second feature after Soundless in 2004, from a screenplay by Bill Kelly. Sandra Bullock plays Linda, with Julian McMahon as Jim, Courtney Taylor Burness and Shyann McClure as the daughters, and Nia Long and Kate Nelligan in supporting roles. Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Ashok Amritraj produced for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, TriStar Pictures, Offspring Entertainment and Hyde Park Films.

Made for about 20 million dollars, the film took roughly 84 million dollars worldwide, a return well above its cost. On IMDb it holds 4.9 out of 10 from 22 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.3 from 1,729 votes; the far larger audience sample there is the more informative figure. A critics' rating of 4 out of 10 from 160 reviews places it below the TMDB audience score, though closer to the small IMDb sample.
