What's left behind the scenes
- The series creator, David E. Kelley, filmed two endings for the 6th season: in one, Kelly Williams' character was found guilty, and in the other, she was acquitted. Even the actors involved in the series did not know which ending would air until the actual broadcast.
- The Season 7 finale was filmed with the full conviction that it would be the end of the entire project, as its ratings had been steadily declining for a long time. However, ABC management decided at the last moment to renew the series for an 8th season.
- Sharon Stone's story arc at the beginning of Season 8 reignited viewers' waning interest in the series to the extent that Stone even considered becoming a permanent member of the cast for a while.
- The series aired on Saturday evenings at the same time as 'The Sopranos' (1999-2007) on HBO. Many critics later stated that this led to a decline in interest in 'LA Law', which naturally affected its ratings.
- When the decision was made to renew the series for an 8th season, Dylan McDermott (born Mark Anthony McDermott), Kelly Williams, Lara Flynn Boyle, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Kyle Lee, and Marla Sokoloff were removed from the cast. This was done to compensate for cuts to the production budget.
