What's left behind the scenes
- Lady Han was supposed to die in episode 18, but due to fan backlash, her death had to be postponed.
- There are two versions of the series: one consists of 54 episodes of 60 minutes each, and the second consists of 70 episodes of 45 minutes each, including deleted scenes and missing episodes.
- In 2004, a theme park was opened in the city of Yongju, Gyeonggi Province, where the majority of the filming took place.
- The character is based on a real historical figure—a woman named Seo Jang-geum, who served the emperor in the strictly hierarchical male-dominated society of the Joseon dynasty.
