What's left behind the scenes
- A television parental committee launched a national campaign to ban the series from airing on the FX network. This did not stop Sony from becoming the full sponsor of the series' third season.
- Linda Klein, who plays Nurse Linda, is a nurse in real life and also serves as a medical consultant for the series.
- Actual plastic surgeons say that in reality, operations do not look as bloody and frightening.
- Dr. Christian Troy was originally intended to be named Dr. Christian Vega. The character's name was changed once Julian McMahon was cast in the role.
- In the first few episodes, the character Liz, played by Roma Maffia, had the surname Winters. However, after several episodes, her surname was changed to Cruz.
