Short description

In New York, detective Luigi Mackeroni is assigned to a case at the Hotel Quickie, where several male guests have been attacked in their rooms. What the victims have in common is that each was bitten during a sexual encounter, and the culprit appears to be a live condom with teeth. After Mackeroni arranges a meeting with a young hustler named Billy, the creature turns on him as well, costing him a testicle before escaping. The attack convinces him the case is real, and he pursues the predator with the help of his strait-laced partner Sam Hanks, while the transsexual singer Babette, whom Mackeroni once knew as Bob, remains attached to him. The investigation eventually draws in a politician whose involvement gives Mackeroni official backing.

The film is a German-Swiss comedy-horror production directed by Martin Walz, his first feature, followed by 99€ Films in 2001. The screenplay, written by Walz, Mario Kramp and cartoonist Ralf König, adapts König's comic of the same name, which accounts for the film's blend of crime parody and explicit humour. Udo Samel plays Mackeroni, with Peter Lohmeyer as Hanks, Iris Berben, Marc Richter as Billy and Leonard Lansink as Babette heading a credited cast of 26.

Released in 1996, the film runs 120 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.4/10 from around 3,700 votes, while on TMDB it scores 5.2/10 from fewer than a hundred votes, and a critics' rating also stands at 5.4/10 from a small number of reviews. Audience and critical responses therefore sit closely together, indicating a cult item rather than a broadly praised one.
