• For the role of the hero Gad Elmaleh's Jewish grandmother, director James Yut cast his own 94-year-old cousin. His initial search for an elderly actress with a suitable accent proved unsuccessful.
• Director James Yut, who had previously shot four full-length feature films, had never worked with child actors before. According to him, it was his unpreparedness for this that held him back from starting work on the project for some time.
• Sasha and Charlotte's apartment was actually built in a studio. Director James Yut said this was done to give the film a certain charm and make it look like a 1950s American comedy, inspired by directors such as Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, and George Cukor.
• The scenes in New York were originally planned to be filmed in Montreal, Canada, according to the script. Everything changed at the insistence of producer Richard Grant, who also decided that it should be raining during the first scene.
• The hands in the opening credits belong to a pianist named Pierre Yves Plat, not Gad Elmaleh.
• Throughout the film, there are several references to the animated film "The Aristocats" (1970). Co-writer and director James Yut believes that some may see this film as a remake of the classic Disney animated film.
