Traxx

Traxx is an action comedy about a mercenary who has fought in El Salvador, the Middle East and Nicaragua and decides to leave that life behind for a quieter career baking decorated cookies. When the money runs short, he takes work as a "Town Tamer" and sets about clearing the criminals out of Hadleyville, Texas, offering them a simple choice: behave, leave, or die. The local mob proves stubborn, and crime boss Aldo Palucci brings in the Guzik brothers to deal with the newcomer, leading toward a confrontation in the streets.

The film was directed by Jerome Gary from a screenplay by Gary DeVore and released in September 1988. It runs 84 minutes and was made by DEG on a budget of about 7 million dollars. Shadoe Stevens plays the title role, with Priscilla Barnes as Mayor Alexandria Cray, Willard E. Pugh as Deeter, Robert Davi as Palucci, John Hancock as Chief Emmett Decker and Hugh Gillin as Commissioner R.B. Davis. Seventy-one cast members are credited.

Audience response has been modest and divided. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 from 538 votes. On TMDB it stands at 6.7 from only 11 votes, a small sample that suggests a warmer reaction among a narrow group of viewers rather than broad agreement.
