Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Connor Mead is a successful celebrity photographer who avoids commitment and juggles several relationships at once, even ending things with three girlfriends in a single phone call. He returns home for the wedding of his younger brother Paul, where his open contempt for marriage unsettles the family and complicates things with Jenny Perotti, a childhood friend who has always been immune to his charm. That night Connor is visited by the ghost of his late Uncle Wayne, the womanizing mentor who taught him his ways, and by the spirits of girlfriends from his past, present and future, who take him through his romantic history to make him reconsider the life he has chosen.

Mark Waters directed the film, the sixth of the fifteen features he has made, following The Spiderwick Chronicles and preceding Mr. Popper's Penguins. Jon Lucas and Scott Moore wrote the screenplay, and Matthew McConaughey stars as Connor, with Jennifer Garner as Jenny, Michael Douglas as Uncle Wayne, Breckin Meyer as Paul, Lacey Chabert as Sandra and Robert Forster as Sergeant Volkom. It is a comedy with fantasy and romance elements, made on a budget of about 38 million dollars, and it took roughly 102 million dollars worldwide.

The film drew a limited response on IMDb, where it holds 5.8 out of 10 from around 99,000 votes, and on TMDB, where it sits at 6 out of 10 from about 2,500 votes. A critics' rating of 4.5 out of 10 from 142 reviews places it below both audience scores, indicating that viewers were somewhat more tolerant of it than reviewers were.
