Two years after the events of the first part, Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2 continues the feud between the Khan and Singh families in the Wasseypur region. With his father and brother dead, Faizal Khan takes charge of the Khan clan and sets out to destroy the gang of Ramadhir Singh. A lifelong smoker and a shy man, Faizal is doubted by those around him, including his mother, yet he pursues the family's vendetta with a relentlessness that reshapes the balance of power.
Anurag Kashyap directed the film, which followed the first part in the same year and sits between No Smoking (2007) and Ugly (2013) in the chronological list of his features. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays Faizal, with Huma Qureshi as Mohsina Hamid, Richa Chadha as Nagma, Rajkummar Rao as Shamshad Alam, Tigmanshu Dhulia as Ramadhir Singh and Pankaj Tripathi as Sultan Qureshi. The credited cast numbers 21.
Made on a budget of about 2 million USD, the film took roughly 5 million USD worldwide, a return that reflects the commercial reach of the two-part saga. On TMDB it holds a rating of 7.8/10 from 114 votes, indicating a small but positive response from users of that platform. The film runs 160 minutes and is an Indian action, crime and thriller production from Viacom18 Studios, Jar Pictures, Anurag Kashyap Films and Tipping Point Films.
