Stolen

Will Montgomery has just finished a prison sentence for his part in a bank robbery and wants to leave his criminal life behind, rebuild his relationship with his teenage daughter Alison, and start over. That plan collapses when Vincent, a former partner in crime, seizes the girl and holds her in a stolen taxi in New York. To get her back, Will must produce the money from their last robbery, which he hid before going away. With the police refusing to help him, he has only hours to find the cash and the kidnapper, relying on his old skills and on Riley, another former member of the crew.

Simon West directed the film, the seventh of the fourteen features he has made in chronological order, following The Expendables 2 and preceding Wild Card. David Guggenheim wrote the screenplay, and Nicolas Cage plays Will, with Sami Gayle as Alison, Josh Lucas as Vincent and Malin Åkerman as Riley. Danny Huston appears as Tim Harlend, and thirty-two cast members and 154 crew are credited.

The film was released in September 2012. Made for a budget of 35 million US dollars, it took about 2 million dollars worldwide, a small return on its cost. On IMDb it holds 5.5 out of 10 from roughly 48,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.5 out of 10 from about 1,145 votes. A critics' rating of 3.9 out of 10 from twenty-two reviews places the reviews below the audience scores.
