Disconnect

Disconnect follows several people whose lives intersect as they struggle with the effects of modern communication technology. A busy lawyer stays attached to his phone, leaving little room for his family. A married couple drifts apart and looks online for escape. A widowed former police officer tries to raise a troublesome son who bullies a classmate over the internet. A journalist pursues a story about a teenager who performs on an adults-only website. Their separate stories gradually collide.

The film was directed by Henry Alex Rubin, whose only earlier feature as director was the 2013 release Disconnect itself, followed later by Semper Fi in 2019. Andrew Stern wrote the screenplay, and the producers were William Horberg, Mickey Liddell and Jennifer Monroe. The cast includes Jason Bateman, Hope Davis, Frank Grillo, Michael Nyqvist, Paula Patton and Andrea Riseborough, with 26 credited performers in total.

Made for about 10 million dollars, Disconnect returned roughly 3 million dollars worldwide, well below its production cost.
