The Ten

The Ten is a comedy made up of ten separate stories, each loosely based on one of the biblical commandments. The segments cover figures such as a man who survives a plane crash without a parachute, a surgeon whose practical joke has fatal consequences, a woman who meets Jesus while on holiday in Mexico, and two twins who begin to doubt their parentage. A narrator dealing with troubles in his own relationship ties the episodes together, and characters and themes recur across them.

David Wain directed the film, his second feature after Wet Hot American Summer, working from a screenplay he wrote with Ken Marino. Wain and Marino also produced alongside Paul Rudd. Rudd plays the narrator, Jeff Reigert, and the large cast includes Winona Ryder, Adam Brody, Jon Hamm, Marino and Todd Holoubek, among 81 credited performers. The film was released in 2007 and runs 96 minutes.

Made for about 5 million dollars, it drew limited audiences: on TMDB it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 10 from 218 votes. A critics' rating of 5.1 out of 10 from 83 reviews places it slightly above the audience score. Wain went on to direct Role Models the following year.
